The premises are located at the centre of Pforzheim in the immediate vicinity of the Enz river. It forms half of a city block. Most of the outer edges of the block were built 5 storeys high, while the height varied on the courtyard side. The land was completely built over and used commercially.
The building remained essentially intact but was stripped of its interior structure completely. Since the refurbishment and conversion, it has been used for offices, shops and apartments as well as by the open university of Pforzheim. The rear of the building facing the Enz was completely demolished and replaced by a multi-storey building for commercial and residential use.
